Courses

The Museum Studies Graduate Certificate Program consists of six courses or 18 credits (3 credits per class):

  • 3 Core Courses
  • 2 Elective Courses
  • 1 Practicum/Internship Course

Core Courses

AMST 684: Museums and Collections (3 credits)

AMST 685: Museums and Education (3 credits)

Students must complete two 3-credit elective courses. Electives are accepted from a wide range of departments, but generally must be at least a 400-level course in a relevant subject matter. All electives should be cleared with the program director before enrollment.

Museum Practicum/Internship

Each student completes an individualized practicum project or internship under the mentorship of a practicing professional or university faculty.

Students must meet with the program director to discuss practicum projects before enrolling. Practica are generally fulfilled after the completion of all Museum Studies core courses and electives.
