UH Manoa Campus Art in Public Places The UH Manoa campus is graced by the works of many distinguished artists. Many are commisioned by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, in accordance with the Art in State Buildings Law. In 1967, Hawaii became the first state in the nation to adopt this law, requiring that 1 percent of construction appropriations be used for permanent or movable art. Today, there are more than 75 artworks on the landscape
of the UH Manoa campus.
